How our Lionfish jewelry is made
The fins we use
Lionfish have 18 to 20 venomous spines and ´normal´ fins (tail, anal fin, dorsal fin, pectoral fin, and pelvic fin). We use all of them.
After the Lionfish is caught, the fish is cleaned and served in The Lionfish Snack Aruba.
The fins are washed and dried. Then work starts with them.
Maybe nice to know…The spines are NOT venomous anymore after they dried 🙂
All-natural colors
The colors and patterns vary a lot, this is all-natural! Different parts of the fish make different colors.
On top of that, we use sunlight and shade to change the colors.
The Tail fin, anal fin, and dorsal fin are the fins with the black spots.
If you dry them in the shade they keep more red/orange colors.
If you dry them in the sun, they turn white.
The pectoral fin has a more deep red, blue, purple, grey-ish colors.
If you dry them in the shade, they turn red. In the sun they change color.
The colors of the lionfish in our jewelry will change over time due to exposure to UV, but they will always keep their magical touch!
Materials we use
We use hypoallergenic surgical steel for all our jewelry.
The coating is a kind of resin.
And the boxes and packaging are made from recycled materials.
